In 2002 his debut album El Abayarde was released. He became the first rap artist to perform at the Puerto Rican National Day of Salsa. He has been featured in remixes for Usher, Fat Joe, N.O.R.E, and Akon. He participated in New York’s Puerto Rican day parade in 2004 and 2005. He has released four studio albums, two mixtape albums, and three soundtrack albums. His 2006 album The Underdog made it to #2 on the US Latin charts.
Earlier this week, 50 Cent sat down with Fortune Magazine to discuss his secrets to business success. Included in the discussion are the challenges he faces with his newest venture and how he decides on new investments. It’s a quick video, but still definitely worth watching. I’ll paste the transcript below…
Transcript: On how and why he came up with the idea for SMS Audio: “When I first came up with the idea for SMS Audio, I wanted to make sure I was able to continuously be a part of how people enjoy music.
Yet recently shared statistics from BitTorrent show that it wasn’t just the hard-core “I have memorized every Radiohead set list since 1996” folks who bought Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes: besides being their most legally-downloaded artist of 2014, Yorke may have made over $20 million dollars from the venture, far more than he would have if he had released the album via conventional methods. Releasing the album via BitTorrent allowed Yorke to greatly reduce the typical overhead costs of selling records, like distribution and packaging.
The Lil Weezyana Festival took place this past weekend in Lil Wayne’s hometown of New Orleans, Lousiana, and the vast majority of the show was streamed on Tidal. That was until Drake came on for a surprise performance. When Drake hopped on stage, the stream was cut off, leading some (including Tidal) to speculate that Apple, for whom Drake is now a brand ambassador, blocked the stream in an effort to stick it to Tidal and their users.

Martin Shkreli was indicted on a $65 million securities fraud charge last week. According to Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Robert Capers, Shkreli allegedly repeatedly lost money for investors and lied to them about it, taking assets from one of his companies to pay off those he owed in another company, which is illegal. Said Capers regarding Shkreli: “Shkreli essentially ran his company like a Ponzi scheme where he used each subsequent company to pay off defrauded investors from the prior company.
Of course, sometimes this move completely backfires. Often a player overestimates his worth and ends up on the losing side of the bargaining table. That appears to be the case with Cleveland Cavaliers forward, Tristan Thompson. Thompson, who will be entering his fifth year in the league, had been the starter in Cleveland the previous two seasons. Once Kevin Love arrived, though, Thompson was relegated to the bench. But Thompson once again got his chance to shine when Love dislocated his shoulder in the first round of the playoffs, and Thompson took advantage of the situation, nearly posting a double-double throughout the playoffs, while averaging about 10 more minutes per game.

50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson), was in Manhattan Supreme Court early Tuesday morning, and was forced to testify in a case against him that involves a woman whose private sex tape he posted online in order to get back at Rick Ross, who he was beefing with at the time. The woman, Lastonia Leviston, is the mother of Ross’s child. During 50’s testimony, he came forward with shocking revelations about his wealth.
Another person who would know how much the stone is worth is its current owner, but he refuses to reveal not only how much he paid to acquire it, but also will not reveal his identity.
