His position at WNBC was as a news reader, and sidekick to Don Imus, for the Monitor weekend program. Imus and McCord were both retained in 1988 after WNBC went off the air and WFAN signed on. After Imus’s departure, McCord continued as news anchor at WFAN for several months. Then he spent 30 years on the air at 660 kHz frequency in New York, after the contract between Imus and WFAN was settled at the end of August McCord left WFAN. He returned to the radio on December 3, 2007, and was reunited with Imus, on the revival of Imus in the Morning. His responsibilities include news reporting and writing comedy material for celebrity impersonators Larry Kenney, and Rob Bartlett. McCord retired on May 6, 2011.
