In August 2008 he lost to Georges St-Pierre for the UFC Welterweight Championship in what was the Fight of the Night. In October 2012 he defeated Erick Silva in the UFC Fight of the Night. Fitch made his World Series of Fighting debut in June 2013 when he lost to Josh Burkman. In December 2014 he lost to Rousimar Palhares for the WSOF Welterweight Championship. Fitch won the vacant WSOF Welterweight Championship by defeating Joao Zeferino in April 2016.
