Almost a century ago, Lim’s family moved from Fujian Province to China, where his father set up a small grocery store. It was Lim who contributed to the business’ expansion by shifting its focus to mining and timber. His plywood-product manufacturing firm is called Tirta Mahakam and it has been listed in Jakarta since 1999. Today, Lim controls approximately half of the company together with his son, Lim Gunawan Hariyanto.
