A key figure in the NHL, Edwards was actively involved in the negotiations between owners and players during the 2012 lockout. It was Murray’s prowess in that negotiation process that later defined his entire professional career. He has since acquired positions in such companies as the oil sands miner Canada Natural Resources, where he serves as Chairman. Also, he became a chairman at Ensign Energy Services and Magellan Aerospace Corporation, and served as a partner at Calgary-based law firm Burnet, Duckworth and Palmer. Additionally, N. Murray Edwards has acquired ski resorts through a company called Resorts of the Canadian Rockies.
