In 2007, Sergei Sarkisov sold a 37% stake in RESO to French insurance giant AXA for $1.2 billion, a record sum for a Russian insurer. Four years later, he acquired a 25% stake in Insurance House VSK, the sixth largest insurer in Russia, and he also intends to buy the Soglasie, the seventh largest insurer, in order to merge them together.
